Volunteer Opportunities

Article XVI (3) of The Bylaws of the Roanoke Bar Association states that its Service Committee is charged with the following mission:

Encourage the participation of the members of the Association in providing community service, charitable professional services, and pro bono publico legal services with and through other organizations of their choice.

In keeping with that mission, below are community organizations that have special needs that may be met by Roanoke Bar Association members. The requirement for postings is that a Roanoke Bar Association Member must be a contact for the listed community organization. Opportunities Available

The Spina Bifida Association of Roanoke Valley is seeking new Board members. The Board meets the second Thursday of January, March May, July, September and November. Its website is www.sbarv.org. Please contact Nancy Reynolds at 510-3037, for more information.

The West End Center for Youth, an after school and summer program providing education, wellness and life skills programs for Roanoke's inner city youth,  has openings for new Board members.  The Board meets over lunch the last Tuesday of each month at 12:30 pm.  The Center also is need of Tutors for its after school tutoring program for grades K-12, serving 45-minute time blocks between 4:00 and 5:45 pm.  Please contact James Creekmore at 966-2504 for more information.
