Barrister Book Buddies - Teacher Registration

The 2010-2011 RBA year will be the 11th year for Barrister Book Buddies!  We appreciate our long-standing relationship with Roanoke City Schools and look forward to another year of good reading.

Roanoke City Schools chooses the schools that participate in the program each year.  For 2010-2011 the approved schools are Garden City, Preston Park, Lincoln Terrace and Morningside.  The Barrister Book Buddies program is staffed by volunteers from the legal profession: lawyers, judges, paralegals, and secretaries.  We will try to fill every class that requests a Buddy, but we are limited by the number of volunteers who sign up for the program.

Each Book Buddy is asked to read for an hour, at least once a month.  They may read more often if that suits both your schedules.  Once the assignments are made, it is the responsibility of the Book Buddy and the teacher to contact each other and determine the schedule.  If the two schedules are not compatible, please contact Cathy Caddy at the Roanoke Bar Association at 342-4905 or roanokebar@earthlink.net.  She will try to assign another Book Buddy to your class.

If you have participated in the program before and want to continue with the same Buddy, please note your preference below.  Every attempt will be made to accommodate the teacher requests.
